Pelvic Health Options

Chronic Pelvic pain affects men and women for many different reasons. In my over 30 years as a practicing Urologist and researcher I have seen many cases and helped many patients recover fully from these often devastating conditions.

I understand the toll that pelvic pain can have on life and can discretely help you alleviate even the most painful of conditions. Whether you’re a woman suffering from Interstitial Cystitis/painful bladder syndromes or a man dealing with the pain of Prostatitis, I use an integrative approach to alleviate your symptoms and get to the root cause of your pelvic problem.

Through a combination of targeted physical therapy, trigger point injections, traditional and alternative bladder instillations, injection therapy, a prescribed dietary plan, lifestyle modifications, and controlled stress reduction, I create individualized treatment plans to best suit your needs and lifestyle.

Interstitial Cystitis and Female Urethral Syndrome range in severity. For many women, these painful conditions can lead to incontinence, overactive bladder, and sexual dysfunction. Thanks to revolutionary breakthrough healing therapies like the O-Shot, I have developed techniques that can reverse your symptoms and get you your health back. Even though symptoms are often identical from one patient to the next, my approach treats no two conditions in the same way, the complexity of these interrelated symptoms demand that no two patients be treated in the same way.

Prostatitis is one of the most misdiagnosed urological diseases. It impacts men across the board regardless of age, race, or income. Chronic prostatitis, or CP, is an itching, burning, inflamed feeling that ranges within the prostate and often down the urethra. Over two million men in the United States visit the doctor every year for prostatitis, and 50 percent of men will show some symptoms of prostatitis sometime in their lives. Long-term prostatitis symptoms can cause significant problems with pain, urinary function, and depression, as well as decreased sexual desire and function.

Prostatitis can be the result of a bacterial or viral infection in the prostate, but more frequently it is non-infectious in origin. Symptoms result from inflammatory causes, which are often multiple and difficult to determine. Structural abnormalities in the pelvis and lower back are also significant in men suffering from this condition and are often underestimated. The challenge is to find the underlying factors contributing prostate’s inflammation so that effective treatment can be implemented.
There are a variety of treatments available for all men suffering from these types of conditions that I have found work very successfully when combined with the right therapy for each man.

Prostate Cancer Options

In my 25 years helping men thrive after a prostate cancer diagnosis, I have learned that individualized medicine consistently provides the best results. No two men suffer from identical cancers, so no two men should receive identical treatment. When looking at the kind of cancer you have, I examine causal factors from lifestyle to genetics, and implement a combination of state-of-the-art treatments.

In my practice, I always strive to make you as comfortable as possible at every step in the process — from cancer diagnosis to follow-up appointments after your treatment. The choices you have to make may feel overwhelming at first, but I will help you understand all your treatment options and assist you in making the best decision for you, your condition, and your lifestyle.

If you have been told that your prostate cancer might lead to sexual dysfunction, please come and see me. You may have more choices than you’re being told.

Prostate cancer affects 1 in 7 men in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, men over 50 are 1000% more likely to develop the disease. African-American men are twice as likely to develop prostate cancer (and die from this disease) than white American men.

Over the last 20 years, prostate cancer treatment has improved significantly. Today, more men are not only surviving, but thriving, after a prostate cancer diagnosis. More men who have recovered from prostate cancer treatment are also enjoying longer and healthier lives (and sex lives too).

If the cancer is caught early enough, some men choose to follow an “active surveillance” protocol (a major lifestyle overhaul). Some studies show that active surveillance can reverse low-risk, low-volume cancer without having to undergo any additional medical procedures. Other studies have shown that the 10-year treatment success rates are equal for men who followed an active surveillance lifestyle and men who had surgery to remove their prostate.
If you have been diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer and been told that your prostate must be removed, you have other (less-invasive) options that have fewer complications like impotency and incontinence.

For men with moderate to advanced prostate cancer, there are options to surgery that do not involve removal of the prostate (and the sexual dysfunction, leaking urine, and other complications that often accompany surgery).

Decline in sexual function is a normal part of the aging process. Hormone levels decrease over the course of a lifetime and many people experience a steep drop in sexual desire/performance during their 50s. The many chemicals we are exposed to in our modern world have not helped this; in particular we are more and more exposed to estrogenic chemicals which has led to high estrogen levels in men and increased breast cancer in women.

In recent years many more treatment options have become available for the reversal of some of these conditions. The miraculous rejuvenation powers of Platelet Rich Plasma, utilized in Dr. Charles Runels’ breakthrough O-Shot and Priapus-Shot, have given women and men who are suffering from decreased sexual satisfaction the joy they have been missing.

These PRP treatments involve tiny injections into the pelvic region. The Platelet Rich Plasma makes tiny fractures in the tissue being treated, which tricks the body’s stem cells into repair mode in order to grow new, healthy tissue. The effectiveness of these techniques is bringing joy to men and women who have not experienced it for many years.
